LET’S STAY HOME!!
Another house update! I am actually dedicated to reviewing rooms in my house every couple of weeks. As we are constantly figuring out what furniture we need and what style we like for the rooms. It gives me the opportunity to keep refreshing the rooms and allows me to monitor all the changes we do.
My favourite room in the house so far is this bedroom! I have been planning this room for months before we moved in and it’s finally getting closer to being complete!
Starting with the mirrored furniture and as you may have seen there is a theme going around the house. I have a slight obsession with anything mirrored…. For me the furniture reflects the light and makes the room feel more spacious. I use the same company as always which is My furniture.com and once again the service was impeccable and I couldn’t fault it at all. They also do special offers where you can buy two bed side tables together and save money.
Next is the bedding, I absolutely love this bed set but sadly its ruined from Hugo and his mud! This is part of the Julien Macdonald range that’s in Debenhams and I brought it in the sale in the summer and because our bed is king size buying bedding can be very expensive! This was originally £120 and I ended up paying £29 for it which is an absolute bargain for it.
The bed we decided to go for was from Next and its the Paris design. Looking at the colour you can’t see the full effect from the shade but its a light dusty grey colour. They have all different styles and designs for the bedding but we decided to have the one that lifts up as it means we can get more storage and hide all my college work in here.
If you haven’t guessed by now from my Instagram posts but I have a slight obsession with cushions. James hates the fact that we have cushions everywhere around the house but they make such a gorgeous decoration in the room. These particular ones are from home sense and they were £12 a cushion, I wish I brought another two as I can’t see them in store again and the style suits my scheme around the house.
Dressing side table accessories aren’t too much in this room. I have the small glass lamps from Laura Ashley on top of the Dior catwalk book.
My mirrors on the wall are from the range and they are meant to be over the door hanging mirrors but obviously we didn’t want to use these for that. I didn’t want to spend a fortune on these mirrors as they will never be used and are purely for decoration so they cost me £10 rather than £60 in other stores that I’ve seen.
These prints in the frames are from Desenio and what I was planning on putting on the wall in the middle of the head board. However I’m not sure that they are the right prints to go above the bed, so I’m hanging on a little until I get the best designs to put on the wall so for now they are just placed on here. I also would like to get another radiator cover as I cannot stand to see radiators in pictures (Weird I know).
I have had a couple of messages about the wardrobes in here and these were actually one of the choices that we picked when we first reserved the house. Our home is a Barratt home so if you go to any show homes they tend to have these wardrobes in there.
This part of the bedroom is James’ so he thinks….. He gets the use of this dressing table purely for keeping his aftershaves and beauty products here. I still get the final say with what goes on show. I again got this dressing table from My Furniture.com.
As for the accessories on the dressing table I have my favourite decoration which is throughout the house and it’s the Laura Ashley tissue box. Who really wants to see your standard tissue box from Sainsbury’s that has absolutely no way of fitting into your colour scheme of the house out on show? Not me! So that’s why this makes the perfect addition to the house. I also have my beautiful artificial flowers which sit in the middle of the dressing table which I got as a gift.
The last part of the room is just the doors and the lighting. On the back of the door we have our mirrored door hook and this is actually the second one we’ve brought. Previously James hung the first one up and within the space of a few hours it fell and smashed everywhere so the next day I made him go and purchase the same one to replace it straight away. This was thankfully only from The Range and was only something like £8 which isn’t too bad. Also the door next to it is the en-suite.
For the light, the chandelier is the same one as what we have in the living room. I loved it that much I needed one for the bedroom as well and it’s something that was definitely worth the price. I got this from Debenhams when they had their light event on which meant everything was half price and this resulted in being £50.
